Rochdale woodcraft report 11/1/05

We have only just started back again from the christmass break so I fear that there is not much to report.

Our first session was unusually well attended for the first of a term. We played games and talked about everyones favourite toy. One girl brought the family Teddy bear who is now 33.

As you may know we exchange news while seated in a circle. Given the events over christmass we had to talk about the tsunami. A number of children knew someone (mostly the same someone) who directly experienced the event and survived. We discussed ways of raising money to help and decided as a group that we would both hold a collection and contribute the first two weeks subscriptions to the fund.

On a lighter note we intend to celebrating Burns night tomorrow.

We have started planning and preparation for our first true camp, as in under canvas. This is something that I have wanted us to do for some time, but the logistics are daunting. In the past we have gone places with enough crockery and cooking equipment that all we needed to worry about was food. However the campsite we have selected does have showers and toilets so it's hardly roughing it.
