Rochdale woodcraft report 21/6/05

Well it's been a while since our last meeting and that means more to report.

We weeded the courtyard garden at the school and planted some seeds.

Then there was a trip to the sewage works. Unfortunately they were not insured for visitors under 7 so those children played in Tander Hill Park and looked for squirrels.

The following week was very intense. In fact I can't correctly report all the things that were done because I could not be in two places at once. We did some more work on the garden, demonstrated how to pitch a tent and explained the "buddy" system. Most was in preparation for our camp that weekend.

That weekend we camped at Silverdale, which is on the coast of Morecambe bay. Quicksand’s, Rapid tides it claims lives every year. It was quite an experience; see the separate report.

The next session was a cycle ride with the local cycling society around Healy Dell. Then we shut for the school half term.

After half term we went on a combined litter pick and tree talk around Healy Dell. As usually collecting litter proved more popular than learning about the environment!

Finally last week we held a bring and buy with proceeds going towards the global village event next year.
